Refund & Returns

When and how you can get your money back — across everything we offer.

1. Overview

This Refund & Returns Policy explains when and how you can get your money back across everything Honored Ancestors offers — digital keepsakes (Seals, paid memorials, and Living Legacy), physical goods (the Genesis Medallion and Store items), commissioned work, and donations. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. Different offerings work differently, so please read the section that matches what you bought.

2. Our 7-day window (digital keepsakes)

For our digital products — a paid memorial, a Living Legacy plan, or a Seal Roll — you may request a full refund within 7 days of your purchase, for any reason, as long as the product has not already been used to permanently preserve or publish something (see the Seals and memorials notes below). Email us within 7 days and we will refund your original payment method.

3. Seals & Rolls

A Seal Roll is prepaid credit — one dollar per Seal, bought ten and up. Within 7 days of buying a Roll, any unspent Seals are fully refundable. Once a Seal is spent — the moment you use it to permanently preserve a recording, photo, or note — that Seal is non-refundable, because the permanent preservation has already been delivered and cannot be undone. We will always refund the unspent balance of a Roll within the 7-day window.

4. Paid memorials

A paid memorial is refundable in full within 7 days of purchase. If your memorial has already been published and you would prefer it taken down rather than refunded, please use our Takedown & Corrections process — we honor removal requests regardless of the refund window.

5. The Genesis Medallion (physical)

The Genesis Medallion is a physical, individually-numbered collectible that ships to you.

6. Store items (made to order)

Store items — apparel and keepsakes — are printed and made to order specifically for you, so we cannot accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges. We do stand behind quality: if an item arrives defective, damaged, or different from what you ordered, tell us within 7 days of delivery with a photo and we will reprint or refund it at no cost to you.

7. Commissioned memorials

A commissioned memorial is bespoke editorial and research work. You may cancel for a full refund any time before we begin. Once research or writing has begun, the portion covering work already performed is non-refundable and we refund the remaining balance. If we are unable to complete a commission you have paid for, we refund it in full. Specific milestones and terms are confirmed with your advisor before any charge.

8. Donations & patronage

Donations and patronage gifts keep the public archive free, and are generally non-refundable. We will gladly correct a genuine mistake, though — a duplicate charge, a wrong amount, or an accidental gift — if you tell us within 7 days. For annual (recurring) patronage, you can cancel future renewals at any time through the link on your Stripe receipt; the current period is non-refundable, though we will consider genuine hardship case by case. Please note that Honored Ancestors is operated by Abilities Finance, LLC and is not a 501(c)(3) charity; gifts are not tax-deductible.

9. Living Legacy feature-promise protection

If you purchased a Living Legacy plan in reliance on a feature we said was coming in a later phase, and that feature has not shipped within 90 days of your purchase, you may request a full refund at any time — even beyond the 7-day window. We make this promise because you should never pay for something we do not deliver.

10. How to request a refund

Email info@honoredancestors.net from the address you bought with, or include your order details — your Stripe receipt or the email confirmation is enough. Tell us what you bought and why. We aim to respond within two business days.

11. How refunds are issued

Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through Stripe, our payment processor. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it typically takes 5–10 business days to appear after we process it. We do not charge a fee to issue a refund.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. We will post updates here with a new “Last updated” date.
